This was a very articulate article. To the point. I agree with everything. Especially about the activist only willing to participate in the homefront for our(Americans) human rights. What people don’t understand is that although a lot of soldiers didn’t just sign up to go to Iraq or anywhere else to kill, but to spread the freedom that we take excersice with madness and take for granted.
I have tried to see things the way that lefties see. It’s really easy to convert when you have lost a battlebuddy. But in the long run we soldiers keep fighting. It would be beyond me to have myself, my family, my kids live in the world that I fight in. I wish people could see that.
But the media make it seem like a different war. I wish reporters were all military. Where the killings wouldn’t be glorified, nor forgotten. Where the thoughts of our soldiers would be remembered with the people we helped.

While a bit long I think you have presented the real long term challenge we face in the 21st century. I aggree !00% with you on our options and the stakes. There are manny who as you state in 1941 were still clueless about what the stakes were. There were Pro Nazi’s having Rallys in the US till Dec of 1941 & guys like Charles Lindberg on Hittler’s bandwagon. I perfer to fight Islamic fundamenlism in Basra or Ramadi rather than in Chicago or Houston. Look At France people. Want to be France???? What many do not understand is that running away never stopped a fight in high school & does not work in the real world ethier. We have a generation that is soft, lazy, deaf from Ipods and wussied by Soccer and Dr Phill. While American kids are too scared to play tag!! A 12 yr old in Liberia can field strip a AK-47 and would kill you over a roll of toilet paper. We need to wake up or yes we will all be in burkas…..
