Niles Standish asked: My great-granfather was in the German army during WW2. He came the US a year after the war. He was able to bring 2 footlockers and a few suitcases. One footlocker was in our attic. My parents never let us touch it, but recently we looked at the stuff inside. There was a lot of stuff from the war, and I don’t know what the German says. I know there’s a lot here – I don’t expect someone to translate it all. If you can translate some – Thanks!
-ORGANISATIONSBUCH DER NSDAP – red book with lots of pictures of flags and army uniforms and stuff.
-DEUTSCHE MARSCHE UND LIEDER – songbook w/ songs: “SA marschiert, SS im schwarzen Waffen-kleid, Deutschland erwache,” etc.
-A postcard that says: “Reichsparteitag Nurnberg 1934.”
-A novelty coin that says: “Reichsparteitag 1938.”
-An old record that says: “Horst Wessel Lied – Die Fahne Hoch.”
-A brown/tan army uniform with a patch that has an “A” with an “S” over it.
-A square flag that says: “15 – Nat.Soz.Deutsche Arbeiterpartei – Sturmabteilung.”

My grandfather, who is still living in Australia, would like me to try to find his war records. He served in the British Army of the Rhine (B.A.O.R) in World War 2 and I have basically all the information about him (his number, battery, regiment, etc), but I can’t find a comprehensive site for finding his record or any information about his regiment. Any suggestions?

Sheldon asked: My grandfather was captured by the Nazi’s ion WW2 and taken to a camp at around aged 15 after which he fell in to the hands of the Americans (I’m guessing it would be the army but to be honest we’re not quite sure).
Obviously, there must be records in reference to these sort of activities but does anyone know how I can locate refugee records? Where would be a good place to start looking?

My dad, who is no longer with us, was in the army during WW2 and I would like to find out more about what he did. He never spoke about it much when he was alive just that he was away in the army when his house at home was bombed and he lost his first wife and baby in the air raid. He went on to marry my mum some years after the war. Did the army keep any records and where can I start a search? I’d love to find out more if you can help me.
Thanks old lady! He was in the East Yorkshire Batalion. I have a photo of him with his colleagues.

carrie asked: My grandfather served in WW2 with the Army air corps. He told my dad that he was going to share his stories about the war, but was unable to do so due to a stroke. I do know that he served in the South Pacific. Austrilla and somewhere eles. I want to find some of the people her served with and maybe get some records. Or even possibly chat with some men who served with the Army Air corps.
