I have a pic of my grandfather in uniform. I’d like to know what some of the medals, pins, etc. mean on his uniform. I wanted to get his Army records, but according to the web site I’m not next of kin because I’m a grandchild.
My Uncle is listed as Height: 08 Weight : 083
What do these numbers mean? Is there a Key somewhere online? Thanks Source information found was Ancestry.com
Everything is typed by Ancestry.com nothing is hand written to misread. Thanks for trying.
What would you do next? Re-apply to the MOD for information requesting they check their records? I cannot find his death registered anywhere. So, keep trawling the death registers? How can we locate his young son Billy? Can anyone help?
NB: I’m aware we can’t examine the census data post 1901 in the UK. Is it possible to request info from the 1941 census? Where would we request it from? What documentation would we need?
Thanks in advance for any useful replies.

My grandfather, who is still living in Australia, would like me to try to find his war records. He served in the British Army of the Rhine (B.A.O.R) in World War 2 and I have basically all the information about him (his number, battery, regiment, etc), but I can’t find a comprehensive site for finding his record or any information about his regiment. Any suggestions?
Thank you,
Niki

just found out a touch of information about my grandfathers service time in the army and would like to find out everything I can. some operations were just declassified and I’m wanting to find out all I can about him from official records.
I would greatly appreciate information that can get me in the right direction.
