the only way your going to get anything on his records is to requrst them from the national archivies, thats what I had to do with my great uncle to find anything out

You should contact the war department and they can help you with this. they have all available records. try typing in

Most military records (of that time frame) were lost in a fire. IF his survived a person qualified under the current release policy can get a copy.
